1. Historic, scarce Washington College report card signed by R. E. Lee on April 27, 1867. This report was issued to Edwin Theodore Dumble, who attended Washington College in 1866-68 without graduating. He returned to Washington & Lee College (which was renamed for Lee after his death on October 12, 1870) in 1872 and was was graduated with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1874. Known widely in Texas for his innovative engineering endeavors, Dumble later received an honorary doctorate in science from another university. He was born in Galveston, Texas, but made his home in Houston as his career gained stature. In 1888, he was secretary of the Texas State Geological and Scientific Association. His alumni number is 3101. $4,995.

2. Confederate Special Orders No. 78. Official resignation of 2nd Lt. W. C. Wilmeth, Co. D, 6th Texas Cavalry on March 1, 1864. Preprinted and manuscript document in brown ink, siged by Jonathan Withers, assistant adjutant general. 9" x 7 1/2" on blue-lined adversity paper. Minor folds and handling. $150.
3 Rare Oath of Allegiance for Confederate soldiers enlisting in the Rebel army in 1862. Though unissued, this document was a vital record for men about to begin service on behalf of the south and was intended to assure their commanding officers that new recruits were disciplined, honest and faithful to the cause. 7 1/2" W x 9 1/2" long on pretty blue paper. One minor repair on the back. $145.
